Defense-X 2026

About the event

Defense-X 2026 was a defence innovation event held at the Daia military training range in Sibiu, hosted by the Land Forces Academy in Sibiu.

The event brought together defence experts, military representatives, technology companies, drone builders, robotics teams, investors, and strategic partners interested in modern defence technologies and dual-use innovation.

The focus of the event included areas such as autonomous systems, robotics, unmanned aerial systems, AI-assisted tactical workflows, field testing, and practical defence innovation.

For QUADYX, Defense-X 2026 represented an important opportunity to test our autonomous drone systems in a real field environment, receive feedback from relevant defence and technology stakeholders, and present our progress in autonomous aerial systems built in Romania.

QUADYX’s Participation at DEFENSE-X 2026

At Defense-X 2026, QUADYX participated with real drones, our Ground Control Station, and an autonomous mission workflow demonstrated in the field.

We presented our work in autonomous drone systems, focusing on the full QUADYX stack:

  • custom drone platforms;
  • onboard AI and autonomy;
  • Ground Control Station;
  • drone network and mission coordination;
  • human-in-the-loop autonomous workflows;
  • payload operations.

During the event, we demonstrated a mission scenario called:

Search, Detect & Target Engage

The demo involved two QUADYX drones.

The first drone performed autonomous area search and onboard AI-based target detection. Once a target was detected, its location was automatically reported to the QUADYX Ground Station.

The operator then reviewed the detection, confirmed the target, and authorized a second drone to autonomously fly to the confirmed location and perform a controlled payload drop.

The entire workflow remained human-in-the-loop, with the operator maintaining decision authority before the second drone was dispatched.

The demo covered several key capabilities:

  • autonomous area search;
  • onboard AI target detection;
  • automatic target location reporting;
  • QUADYX Ground Station & Network;
  • operator confirmation;
  • second-drone autonomous engagement;
  • autonomous payload drop.

Defense-X 2026 was also the moment of the official launch of our new custom-made drone model:

QUADYX S1 Large

QUADYX S1 Large is a larger and more powerful version of the QUADYX autonomous drone platform, designed for longer missions, higher payload capacity, more power, and extended mission endurance.

Together with QUADYX S1, the new S1 Large model gives us two custom drone platforms that can support different mission profiles, payload requirements, and operational scenarios.

Conclusions and Results

Participating in Defense-X 2026 was an important milestone for the QUADYX team.

It was our first participation at Defense-X, and we came not only with a concept or presentation, but with real drones, real field testing, and a medium-to-high complexity autonomous mission workflow.

The demo was also a valuable field-testing experience. Not everything worked perfectly from the first attempt, but the team adapted, fixed the issues, retried, and successfully completed the demonstration.

For us, this was one of the most important outcomes of the event: proving that the team can build, test, fail, recover, and deliver in a real field environment.

Defense-X 2026 helped us validate several key parts of the QUADYX system:

  • autonomous drone operation in field conditions;
  • Ground Control Station mission coordination;
  • onboard AI detection workflow;
  • human-in-the-loop decision process;
  • multi-drone mission logic;
  • payload drop workflow;
  • operational readiness of QUADYX S1 and QUADYX S1 Large.

The event also allowed us to meet defence experts, technology builders, potential partners, and people interested in the future of autonomous drone systems.

We thank the organizers for an excellent event and for creating a valuable defence innovation environment. We also thank everyone who visited us, watched the demo, gave feedback, and supported what we are building.

For QUADYX, Defense-X 2026 represented more than an event participation — it was an important step in validating our technology, our team, and our direction.
